Haunted Lighthouses – Old Port Boca Grande Lighthouse

Located at the southern end of Gasparilla Island you’ll find the Old Port Boca Grande Lighthouse. Right next to the lighthouse sits its twin – a building that served as the lighthouse keeper’s assitant’s home. Originally built in 1890, these two buildings were nearly lost to the sea. By 1970, the shoreline had been eroded by hundreds of feet and the sea was beginning to reach the lighthouse foundation. Local concern grew and the government took steps ensure the lighthouse would be around for future generations.

When phosphate was discovered several miles upriver from the lighthouse’s future location in the early 1880’s, the phosphate was shipped down the river on barges to Port Boca Grande and then loaded onto ocean-going vessels. Due to the increased business of the port, Congress appriated $35,000 for the construction of a lighthouse at the southern tip of Gasparilla Island in 1888, and the Old Port Boca Grande Lighthouse was born.

Lighthouse keepers and their families lived and worked in the lighthouse from 1890 until 1951. The Boca Grande lighthouse served as a home for the lighthouse keeper and his family, and the twin building next to it served as home to the assistant lighthouse keeper. The keeper would take care of the light until midnight, and then his assistant would tend to the light for the rest of the night.

The Old Port Boca Grande Lighthouse is thought to have two ghosts. During the lighthouse’s history, the young daughter of one of the keepers died in the dwelling, most likely of diphtheria or whooping cough. Tour guides say that she can be heard playing in one of the rooms of the building’s upper floor. A former park ranger who led tours of the lighthouse, often pointed to a doorway on the second floor and told visitors that it was one of the little girl’s favorite places to play. the former ranger also said that at midnight, the little girl can be heard upstairs playing.

The second ghost is said to be the headless spectre of a Spanish princess named Josefa. Legend says that a Spanish pirate, Jose Gaspar (aka Gasparilla), buried his treasure in the sand close to where the Old Port Boca Grande Lighthouse was to be built some ninety years later. Apparently, Gaspar fell in love with this Spanish princess he had kidnapped. She wasn’t interested and when she rejected his love, he drew his sword in a fit of rage and cut off her head. Shamed by what he had done to Josefa, Gasparilla gathered up her lifeless body and buried her in the sand on the island. Unfortunately for her, his love for her was so great that he didn’t want to leave her and legend says he carried his beloved’s head with him for the rest of his days. Reports say that her headless spirit has been seen wandering the beach on Gasparilla Island, presumably looking for her head.

The U.S. Coast Guard automated the light in 1956. Ten years later, in 1966, the Coast Guard removed the light from the building, which was deteriorating due to neglect and beach erosion. In 1972 Lee County took over ownership of the lighthouse and surrounding 13 acres, and began a long process to save the building. Funds were raised by the Gasparilla Island Conservation Association, and the lighthouse was restored.

The lighthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and in 1986 the lighthouse was relit and returned to service as a working Coast Guard light. In 1988 the lighthouse and surrounding land was transferred from Lee County to the State of Florida and became Gasparilla Island State Park.

The Old Port Boca Grande Lighthouse is open to the public. Although it’s fenced off, you can get a great view of the lighthouse from the nearby park and beach. The assistant keeper’s house is now used as a house for the park ranger.

The Supernatural Gentile Transfer

March 30, 2009 by Winchester

The following Scriptures describe the condition of us Gentiles before we received Jesus as our Savior. They also describe what supernaturally happened to us immediately upon receiving Him as our Savior.

But there’s more in these verses. As a matter of fact, these are some of the most meaningful Scriptures we have.

Eph 2:12-13

12That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. (KJV)

First, we see the five things that describe our hopeless condition prior to our salvation through the blood of Christ:

We were without Christ.

We had been alienated from the commonwealth of Israel.

We were strangers from the Abrahamic covenant promises.

Because of the above three, we had no hope.

We were without God in the world.

Before we can show what happened to us Geniles upon receiving Christ, we must identify the “two groups” in verse thirteen above. Only then can we understand what happened to us and apply what it means to us Gentiles today.

These “two groups” are called the “far off group” and the “nigh group” respectively. You see, in the Old Testament, the Gentiles were identified by the term “far off” while the saved Jews were identified by the term “nigh or near.”

We Gentiles were the “far off group” and the saved Jews were the “nigh or near group.”

Here are three Scriptures from the Old Testament which identify these two groups for you.

Ps 148:14

14He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise ye the LORD. (KJV)

This verse identifies the children of Israel as the “near group.”

Micah 4:3

3And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. (KJV)

This verse identifies the “nations” (not Jews) as the “far off group.” Obviously, the word “nations” or nationalities includes people other than Jews.

The next verse shows both groups in one verse. You will find this verse quoted by Paul in Ephesians chapter two.

Isa 57:19

19I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him. (KJV)

Now here is Paul’s quote in Ephesians 2:17 of Isaiah’s statement above.

Eph 2:17

17And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

(KJV)

Now the “far off group,” as we learned above, had none of the five blessings from Abraham’s covenant while the “near group” had them all.

You remember that the saved Jews were born with the five things because of their place, by birth, in the Abrahamic covenant.

You also remember that when a Jew accepted Christ as God’s final sacrifice for sin under Moses’ law, they maintained what they were born with in Abraham’s covenant. They maintained their birthright of healing, prosperity, family well being and salvation.

You also remember that a Gentile is grafted into these same Abrahamic blessings of healing, prosperity, family well being and salvation the very moment he/she receives Christ as his/her savior.

In other words, we Gentiles get these blessings by the “new birth.” Conversely, a Jew was born with them because of his/place place in the Abrahamic covenant. Put differently, he/she got them by his physical birth and maintains them by the New Birth.

Again, to say it another way, when he/she accepts Christ as his/her final sacrifice for sin under Moses law, he/she maintains the healing, prosperity, family well being and salvation he/she was born with in the Abrahamic covenant.

Now when Gentiles accept Christ as their personal Savior, they are instantly and supernaturally transferred, by the blood of Christ, from the “far off group” into the “near group” on an absolute equal footing with the saved Jews. Who are the saved Jews?

In the Old Testament, the saved Jews were those of Israel who made the proper sacrifice for their sins as prescribed by Moses’ law. In so doing, they maintained what they were born with in Abraham’s covenant.

In the New Testament, the saved Jews are those who accept Jesus as God’s final sacrifice for sin, rather than the blood of bulls and goats required in Moses’ law.

Wonder of all wonders! We Gentiles are supernaturally moved from one group to another by the blood of Jesus. We are transferred from the “far “off group” into the “near group” by the supernatural power of God. This supernatural transfer is caused by our accepting the blood of Jesus as the final and full payment for our sins.

Now we Gentiles are transferred into the same group of saved Jews who possessed healing, family well being, prosperity and salvation beginning in Genesis 12. This is where God began making the Abraham covenant that contained 60 promises.

Now that we Gentile Christians have Christ, we are not aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and we are right at home in the covenant promises of Abraham.

Consequently, we have hope and we have God in this world, as well as in the world to come. Now we share the blessings of healing, prosperity, family well being and salvation equally with the saved Jews.

Angels And Spirit Guides Are Unique Too

March 27, 2009 by Winchester

A lot of information has been produced in recent years about angels, spirit guides and ascended masters and more and more people are calling upon them for help in dealing with the challenges of life. The information that is surfacing about these other-worldly beings is the result of intensive study into ancient texts that are thousands of years old.

Furthermore, normal people are increasingly experiencing paranormal or supernatural events as they live their daily lives. This is happening across the globe, in the lives of all sorts of different people whether they live in cities or towns, the countryside or even on the streets.

People who have personally witnessed the presence of supernatural beings or have experienced paranormal events have different educational levels, occupations and ages. They include men and women, girls and boys. Interestingly, they represent all faiths and religious groups as well as people who are not involved with any formal church or spiritual fellowship. Some of these people have explored their experiences in articles and even books.

However, the vast majority of those who have had these amazing experiences have not described them formally in writing at all. They just keep living their normal, everyday lives, but have incorporated the supernatural quietly by seeking direction from spirit guides, ascended masters and archangels.

These beings are not experienced in the same way by different people. Sometimes they appear as visions, sometimes they simply speak and at other times they are felt as a presence. However, their presence is detected, the people they connect with have very interesting stories to tell.

We are gaining more understanding over time about how these beings operate. For example, we now know that archangels, ascended masters and spirit guides have specific expertise and areas of specialty. Archangel Michael, for example, is charged with helping us overcome fear both individually and as a whole.

To better understand how to relate to and cooperate with spiritual beings, we can seek the guidance of Archangel Metatron who also specializes in helping children. To create more beautiful lives we can turn to Archangel Jophiel and if we are seeking solutions to health problems, Archangel Haniel can guide us to create the appropriate healing remedies.

If you desire to understand your life purpose, Archangel Chamuel is the one to turn to along with Archangel Michael, Saint Francis or Saint-Germain. Surprisingly, we can even get help to fix mechanical parts from Archangel Michael or Apollo. For grief and loss we can turn to Archangel Azrael for comfort and healing.

Down through the ages, these amazing, extraordinary experiences have also been very natural. However, the supernatural experiences and contacts with other-worldly beings that have occurred throughout our human history are still mind blowing to human beings. Yet, our growing awareness of other beings, dimensions, and realities is finally beginning to be validated by quantum theory and the growing body of research in quantum physics.

When we realize that even spirit beings such as angels, spirit guides and ascended masters have special gifts and areas of specialty, we may be able to more easily accept and appreciate what we can uniquely offer as human beings. We also have things in which we are particularly gifted.

The combination of unique talents and interests that we all possess indicate our life purpose. These important elements of who we are combine to create our personalities and develop into the motivations, desires and decisions that create our destinies. Understanding this, should help us become more patient and understanding of both ourselves and other people.

The Time Is Now

A luminous world appeared in perfect splendor. It was all a flutter with beautiful angels darting back and forth excitedly proclaiming the Greatness of God. Suddenly a Being more beautiful than all of the rest stood before the exuberate crowd dressed in clothes that shone like lightning. All activity stopped and focused on the words that flowed elegantly and persuasively directing the angels to important missions for God’s chosen children on earth.

The time had come for the harvest of the earth and each supernatural being was directed to their charge. Their mission was to gather together the faithful and position them for the great and mighty day of the Lord Jesus’ return. They were ecstatic with joy that the time of destroying the evil off the face of the earth had now come.

When I looked at the vision and understood what it meant, truth flooded my mind with understanding. Our world had become so corrupted by evil that God had shorted the time of the end.

I was astonished at how simple minded people had become to their lives and how easily they were influenced to do bad. How could so many people be deceived? Why weren’t they striving to do right?

Matthew 24: 21-25, “For the trouble at that time will be far more terrible than any there has ever been, from the beginning of the world to this very day. Nor will there ever be anything like it again. But God has already reduced the number of days; had he not done so, nobody would survive. For the sake of his chosen people, however, God will reduce the days.

Then, if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or ‘There he is!’-do not believe him. For false Messiahs and false prophets will appear; they will perform great miracles and wonders in order to deceive even God’s chosen people, if possible. Listen! I have told you this ahead of time.”

We live in a world where deception is present in everyday life. For example, we are constantly bombarded with advertisements from fast food restaurants compelling us to eat fatty hamburgers and french fries. The media has persuaded our children to eat unhealthy cereals and beverages loaded with sugar by their favorite cartoons through TV commercials and advertisements on the boxes. As consumers and parents we have lost our ability to know what kind of food is best.

We sit and watch television all day. We are addicted to video games and the internet. We don’t clean our homes or exercise because we are way too busy with our electronic gadgets and working at our jobs so we can fuel our desire for things.

Our doctor offices are full of patients who are prone to constant sicknesses and major diseases because of unhealthy lifestyles from the indulgence of fatty fast foods and lack of exercise. People are taking pills for high blood pressure. They are filling their bodies with antidotes when the right medicine can be found by eating the right kind of foods.

Hospitals are springing up everywhere in order to meet the excessive demand of sick people. These people have lost there ability to tell the difference between right and wrong in what they eat and how they should take care of their bodies. These people rely on doctors and never call to God for help!

We fill our homes with big screen televisions and entertain ourselves with fast cars and expensive boats. Never thinking of anyone but ourselves. Always planning the next vacation that will bring excitement into our lives.

We don’t understand when floods come and sweep away our homes. “Why would God take our things from us?” “God must hate me.”

We don’t understand because we are so preoccupied with our own lives that we have abandoned our churches and we have neglected our faith so we can indulge in our luxuries. We have become children of the world taking care of our own needs while the poor become poorer and the rich build bigger and bigger homes.

A tornado wipes out houses and peoples securities and all the people think about is what memories they have lost, they console themselves with expectations of what new things they will buy with the insurance check. They don’t think about the poor in their community, who don’t have insurance, and have lost their jobs as a result of the storm? Who will help them?

Our world is a game. A battle between good and evil. A world where people are either for ‘God and good’, or for the great deceiver Satan and what they can get from the world. We must choose a side and fight! We must look at our world differently or we will lose ourselves in the activities of the world.

The seasons are changing, it is hot where it is suppose to be cool. It is cool where it is suppose to be hot. It rains when it is suppose to be dry. It is dry when it is suppose to be wet. Look at what is happening and you will begin to understand that ‘The Time Is Now’ and the ‘End of All Things Are About to Happen’.

Daniel 12: 1-3, “The angel wearing linen clothes said, ‘At that time the great angel Michael, who guards your people, will appear. Then there will be a time of troubles, the worst since nations first came into existence. When that time comes, all the people of your nation whose names are written in God’s book will be saved. Many of those who have already died will live again: some will enjoy eternal life, and some will suffer eternal disgrace. The wise leaders will shine with all the brightness of the sky. And those who have taught many people to do what is right will shine like the stars forever.”

Our world is a game meant to teach people the difference between good and evil. The wise will learn the lessons of the world and they will pray for help when the storms of life come. The wicked who have been deceived by Satan, will blame God and abandon their faith for their worldly pleasures.

Why are the people running to doctors and administering the medicine to their constant wounds? Why are they so preoccupied with making a living for their pleasures? Why do they build bigger houses and larger banks for their money?

We have given into evil and we are blind to our sins. We don’t care about our mother or father in their old age. We don’t care about the financial status of our children. We don’t think about the homeless and the poor. Our only interest is about ourselves and what makes us happy.

Mark 13: 32-37 “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.

Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back-whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’”

When we are preoccupied with this world then we are at risk to storms, sicknesses and violence of all kinds. We are at war against evil and when we are sleeping on the job and not asking God to protect us and help us fight we have surrendered to the world.

God’s chosen children need to stop sleeping and start using their power of prayer to activate God’s angels. They need to put on the armor of God and fight Satan and the evil he has the power to inflict upon men. When we aren’t fighting for good then evil is given permission to dominate the world.

The Angels eagerly gathered together to fight. They no longer had to wait upon the call of God’s chosen people. Now they had the authority from God to stop evil in the world. They no longer had to restrain their will to fight against Satan and all people who choose evil over good. The End has Come!

Unfortunately for the people of the world The time is Now! Look at all of the deception forced upon all people through false advertisements! Look at the climate change! Look at all the sicknesses of the world! Look at the wars that are escalating and leading closer to a nuclear bomb!

Wake up sleepers and start preparing for the end!

Supernatural: What’s Wrong With Sam?

Last night’s episode of Supernatural, entitled “Fresh Blood,” made us wonder what is really going on with Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki). Since he was brought back from the dead, many have wondered if Sam is 100 percent “pure” after he was resurrected in the end of season 2. Previously, the demon Azazel taunted Dean, telling him that Sam might have come back with some slight tweaks and changes. Since the beginning of season 3, we’ve seem Sam with some signs saying that he’s not the same conscientious Winchester he was before. If something is indeed wrong with our beloved hero, what is it and what does it mean for the future of the character and the series?

This twist in the storyline reminds us of another classic sci-fi classic hit, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, wherein Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) resurrected in season 6 after being pulled out of heaven. When she started over her life on earth, she began despising herself, distancing herself from her friends and playing around with her sworn enemy, Spike. But it was soon revealed that this was all because she was readjusting to life on earth, not because she returned as a half-demon.

This makes us wonder what’s really going on with Sam Winchester. Is he really one of the bad guys now? Demons do lie, and it is quite possible that Azazel was just playing games with Dean, but with Sam’s cold nature recently, we might think that Azazel was right. Sam killed Jake wholeheartedly, and added the Crossroads demon along in the dead pile. These are things the old Sam wouldn’t do just like that, thus making us think that there might be something wrong.

Fans will have to stick to the tube to find out where the road will take Sam and Dean, and for the meantime, go on and theorize on what will happen next in the lives of the Winchester boys.

Some Updates on Supernatural Season 4

March 27, 2009 by Winchester

Supernatural is really kicking it this season. For those who are not aware of where the story is right now, let’s have a recap. (Spoiler alert for those who wants to watch the past episodes of the show)

The two brothers have traveled all throughout the country to look for their lost father and to find answers regarding the disturbing and mysterious occurrences that surround their mother’s untimely death. In the process, they encounter demons and other mystical entities. They finally find their father and all the answers they are looking for are finally found. Finally, the two brothers are able to find their father and kill the demon that killed their mother. But then the brothers get into more trouble. Sam goes to hell after selling his soul to save his brother’s life. Then wakes up dazed and confused in season 4 after an angel named Castiel saves him from hell.

Now, let’s go back to the current supernatural season 4 episode. Does anyone else notice that even though the two brothers had already planned the whole thing, which was that they would let the angels and the demons fight each other without their interruption, Dean still goes on ahead and saves the angel Castiel? They have already said that Mothra and Godzilla should just fight and that they should just watch it from the pulpits. But by some reason (a lot of people are already hypothesizing homo-erotic reasons here) Dean just couldn’t help himself; he had to save his angel (how very sweet).

In any case, I personally opine that Dean would have saved Cas in any event. Even if he did not know that Castiel was trying to stay away from Dean because he was his “weakness”. When Dean found this out, his opinion of Cas was dramatically altered. I also doubted that he would mean so much to Dean.

This critic would like to comment on the storyline of Anna being jealous of the angel. Although, given that they have already written that in the script, more fans as well as this writer would really love it if Castiel the angel would have a bit more human emotion. I suppose the wall between the two characters is still apparent. In the last couple of episodes, there have been more conflicts sparked from these close relations.

In all honesty, I think that what Anna’s going through is not really a simple jealousy issue. What I saw there is more of confusion or curiosity. The angel is not aware or has not experienced emotion and will probably never will. He’s probably investigating the bond between Dean and Anna since he can’t figure out human emotion for himself. I think these emotions make him feel disconcerted and disquieted, probably because of the shame when he realized he was intruding.

Amassing Christian Wealth Supernaturally Today

March 27, 2009 by Winchester

In Deuteronomy 8:18, God told the people through Moses, that He had given them the power to obtain wealth so that He could establish the Abrahamic covenant with them just as He had with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

“Establish,” here, would be more understandable had our translators used the word “continue” in place of “establish.”

You see, the Abrahamic covenant was already established over four hundred years earlier with Father Abraham. Then it was reconfirmed with his son Isaac. Then it was reconfirmed with his grandson Jacob. Each reconfirmation just continued the unbroken force of it. It did not, however, establish it.

My point here is this. Those people with whom He reconfirmed or continued the Abrahamic covenant in Deuteronomy 8 (over four hundred years after He initially made it with Father Abraham) are simply the seed of Abraham who fell heir to the provisions of the covenant. One of these provisions is the supernatural power to supernaturally obtain wealth.

You are just as much a seed of Abraham as Isaac or Jacob. Yes, these three were partakers of the promise of wealth in the Abrahamic covenant by birth. We Gentile Christians are partakers of the wealth promise by grafting. Paul taught us about the grafting.

Rom 11:17

17And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; (KJV)

Rom 11:24

24For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree? (KJV)

We Gentile Christians are the wild branches grafted into the olive tree so that we can equally partake with the physical seed of Abraham in the covenant promise of wealth.

As such, by grafting, we Gentile Christians are entitled to the same covenant provision of wealth as Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the group in Deuteronomy 8.

Notice also that the wealth provision in the covenant isn’t bound by time. Whether four hundred years or four thousand years later makes no difference. The Abrahamic wealth provision is timeless since this covenant is a forever covenant.

A complete understanding of our covenant rights to Abrahamic wealth enables us to see that God gave this wonderful wealth provision in His forever covenant to us Gentile Christians also. God also establishes the Abrahamic covenant with us by giving us the same power to get wealth supernaturally.
