Are angels real or imaginary? – Part 1

There’s no doubt that some people are still skeptical about the existence of angels. This is because many people have not come to realize that there is more to life than science and technology can prove. If we believe that human beings are real, then the existence of angels shouldn’t be a subject of debate.

As a mature human being, I believe that there is more to life than we can see or imagine. I believe that there is a Supreme Being that was responsible for the creation of the world. And this Supreme Being does not dwell in the physical realm where we are. There are two sides of existence-the physical and the spiritual. It is in this spiritual realm that God and the angels dwell.

Although I’m a Christian I’ll rather choose not to argue this point on the basis of Christian faith alone. This is because other religions also believe in the reality of angels. Since we are living in the age of science and technology characterized by increase in knowledge, it’ll also be a misnomer to base our knowledge only on religion.

The first question we should ask ourselves is the meaning of reality. What is reality? Does it mean that it is only those things that we can see or perceive that are real? If we hold this believe, it therefore means that life itself is an illusion.

Human beings are real and so are angels. Apart from the stories of several encounters angels had with human beings as recorded in the Bible, I’ve also had the opportunity of listening to true-life stories by people who have had several encounters with angels. The truth about angels is that, unlike us who are limited in all ramifications, angels are not limited. They have the ability to transform or to appear at any environment at any particular time. Angels may choose to appear as a Caucasoid or Negroid depending on the race of the person they have a message for. Gone are the days when we were fed with such misconception that angels of God are white whereas angels of Satan are black.

Angels also have supernatural abilities since they exist in the supernatural realm. Some time ago, a middle-aged woman told me a story of her encounter with angel. According to her, on a Sunday, she left her children at home for church since she was to meet a group of women before the morning service. On getting home after the service, the children could not find the keys to their apartment. She was helpless and afraid because of her husband. So she had to do something before the husband came back. As she approached the main road, she saw a man standing in a kiosk. She asked if the man was a carpenter and the man said he was. The woman was surprised to see a carpenter on a Sunday near her home but she was also glad as the man agreed to accompany her to the house to fix the problem. What surprised the woman the most was that the man could open the door without any keys or tools. He sincerely rejected all the offers the woman presented to him. As he left, the woman followed him immediately only to discover that the man had disappeared. It then occurred to the woman that it was an angel.

This is just one of such stories that show that angels are real. There are other instances people encounter angels in daily basis. You may see one but not recognize because they may take the form of human beings.
