Pondering the existence of ghosts, demons and angels – Part 15

In the bible there are many references to angels, eg. in "Matthew"

"For the Son of man is destined to come in the glory of his Father with his ANGELS, and then he will recompense each one according to his behavior."

and

And he will send forth his ANGELS with a great trumpet sound, and they will gather his chosen ones

Regarding demons, the bible also refers to them. Alternatively it calls them

evil spirits.

"So he cured many that were ill with various sicknesses, and he expelled many DEMONS,"

As for ghosts,St Mark refers to a ghost as "an apparition a spirit a GHOST"

It seems that demons are a part of us which makes us sick, angry, unhappy, perhaps unable to deal with certain situations.

A ghost is something which some people say they can see, perhaps a loved one

who has passed away. Certainly, there are not the white ghosts as portrayed

in the movies which haunt houses and frighten people.

Read what you can about ghosts in your local library.

Good luck.

Pondering the existence of ghosts, demons and angels – Part 31

I have never seen a ghost but I have heard about them all my life. I do believe in the supernatural,or that something exists outside the natural realms of our society.

Here’s my story.

My first husband died after 9 years of marriage. He was a very possessive person, with an overbearing personality. I remained in our home and I remarried the following year after his death, and almost immediately after my marriage strange things began to happen. The car wouldn’t start, for no apparent reason. The truck would break down. The windows in the house wouldn’t open or once opened wouldn’t close. Things would come up missing, only to be found years later in the most ridiculous places.

My family believed it was my dead husband haunting the place because he resented my new husband living in his home. I didn’t believe it, but I didn’t discount it either.

Two years later my new husband and I built a new house on the same property. We had dug a well and it was completely enclosed in a shed with no opening. The only way in was to remove the front wall. We came home from work one night and my step-daughter told us we had no water. My husband went out and opened up the shed, and the water had been completely shut off to the house. We never found out how the water was shut off, since there was no access th the pump.

Something was going on. We just never found out what it was.

Perhaps we believe in another realm because we are not happy with what we are experiencing. Maybe it is because we don’t have control over everything, and we know this. Or maybe it’s just because it’s like software in a new computer. It comes installed from our childhood years. Why do people believe in ghosts? I don’t know. Do I believe in ghosts? I don’t know that either! I do know that if I am going to believe in a higher power without solid proof then I should at least consider the possibility of demons, angels, and of course ghosts.

Most people do not believe in supernatural happenings and the sort. I guess it just all depends on your religion, background, and personality. Oh, and your situation. I’m not worried about ghosts, but if I’m home alone I hear every noise my house makes and I usually end up sleeping with a light on. But I’m that type of person. SCAREDY CAT! But I don’t honestly think you can argue about ghosts. Nothing really PROVES they are here, but nothing PROVES they’re not either!

Thre are two parallel worlds that coexist;one is the world that we know;the material world;the other one is the spiritual world; that most peoples do not see or feel.

How would you react if someone tells you that your molecules in your body are made of energy; and that energy can become matter and viceversa; most peoples would not believe it without proof.

Every molecule animated or not animated vibrates at a given frequency; that is why some molecules can vibrate at a certain frequency to be a table and some others can vibrate at a different frequency to be a human being;the frequency is directly proportional to the density of the molecules that are forming an object. But it would be to long to explain about the existance of supernatural beings; yes they do exist and some are powerfull enough to cros over in our world.

I personally do not ponder the existence of the supernatural (ghosts, demons, angels, etc) because I have perceived their existence. The ghost (spirit) of my deceased father manifested itself before me some 6 hours after he passed into spirit state. It was only for a moment, long enough to communicate his peace and well-being. He appeared at the foot of my bed, and awakened me from my sleep, and no, I had not been drinking.

At a very low time in my life, as I sat in fear of going to sleep because I had been having a horrible nightmare, the head of a benevolent being drifted from the ceiling above where I sat. The face that I gazed upon was absolute kindness, understanding, and love. I felt no fear because I was in the presence of an angelic force. As a feeling of total peace and well-being settled upon me, the manifestation communicated one thought to me, that “time would serve my purpose.” The silvery skinned face gradually faded from my view, and I knew that I had reached rock-bottom, and that from that moment everything in my life would be improved. That was 29 years ago, and I have sensed the presence of my “guardian angel” to this very moment.

There was a time in my life during which I meditated regularly, and practiced self-hynosis with my uncle as my guide. After a few sessions of trying to remember possible past lives, unsettling sounds (wind noises, distant wailing, sense of chill in the air) began occurring. My uncle experienced the same. I decided to set up my tape recorder and continue with another session. The same types of things were present, but not identical. I did see (perceive) shadows and forms moving about. Upon playback of my tape, the sounds captured on that tape were so frightening to me that I never again attempted a hypnosis session. Please note, I did not drink alcohol, nor do any sort of drugs. Also, I am not a “mental case.”

We do not see electricity, but if you touch a “hot” wire you will certainly believe in it. In and of itself it is neither good nor bad. If it is used to power a hospital and save lives it is good, but if it comes as a bolt of lightning and kills someone, it is bad. So is it with the spiritual world in my opinion. It exists to me, and has elements of good and bad. It also is the ultimate destination of our human spirit when we shed our physical bodies. I accept and embrace the world of spirits, because it houses all that ever was, is, or will be.

As old as the seemingly eternal struggle between good and evil is the existence of angels and demons. They play there part in the whole battle between good and evil, but not against each other or even on any grand scale. They battle within the human soul. Angels are of course the bringers of good fortune and wisdom. While their counterparts demons are the bringers of discontent and lies.

These roles are of course not fixed demons have the capacity to bring good, but usually only for their own personal gain and this happens on extremely rare occasions. Angels likewise can cause destruction if need be, though rarely using what power they do have for such heinous actions. It is important to remember that all being good and evil have the power for great destruction and great generosity, so they should be respected for what they are and what they can do.

Angels as well as demons where worshiped as deities in the past. Some gods that were worshiped as such were, transferred to other religions later on as angels or demons. Many different religions, some of the oldest in fact, have had both demons and angels, though not always called as such. Never the less there have existed creatures of darkness and creatures of light in religions the world over.

No other spiritual being has held onto it’s ancient reputation as well as the demon. Once thought of as mainly a pagan thing, demons made the journey into the Christian faith. Demon is from the Greek word “Daimon” which means spirit good or bad. The Christian church later turned it into demon with it’s meaning of evil. There have been many different demonic legend over the ages and some of the lesser known may even be some of the more interesting. One such demon is the Strix from Rome, this bird like demon would devour you from the inside leaving straw in place of your organs. Even the demon from Cabalistic lore, which says that demons are a type of surviving entity from a universe that came before our own, known as the Neshimiron who was said too look like a skeletally thin woman who was seemingly glowing and possessed a body fused with serpents and fish.

Some demons that are definitely better known are of course of Christian lineage. Some of the best known are the Succubus and the Incubus. A Succubus is a female demon thought to have sex with men while they slept. The Incubus is of course the male form who was thought to have sex with women while they slept. Both the genitals of Incubi and

The history of Shintoism

In western society, the cultural system of supernatural beliefs barely stretches beyond invisible demons and angels running behind the scenes of daily life. Mostly after the scientific revolutions the folklore of bedtime monsters and ghosts and even our popular U.F.O become cast back into the dark primitive mind from which they came. Maybe this part of our neurology is the mind’s eye to see supernatural things that the rest of our trained and so-called educated mind can’t see, maybe not. In Japan however, the idea of folklore and myth keep this fascinating culture rich in indigenous beliefs. As much as the Samurai Class made an impact on the way the Japanese view the world, so much more does Shintoism play a role in the natural perceptions of life. Shintoism is the native religion of the Japanese and has since been lost since World War II as a state religion. However, for most of the history of Japan, the belief in Kami or spirits has been the fundamental system of values and beliefs beginning with the dawn of civilization on the remote islands.

Many folk stories that are told amongst the people there are based around some kind of principle that Shintoism teaches. Quite possibly though, Shinto is less a religion and more of what the culture instinctively believes is at the root of the good and evil happening daily. Not unlike angels and demons, these spirits manifest themselves through nature to aid and torment mankind. For instance, you might have simply spilled your sake on the floor while outside enjoying the weather; instinctively you could curse the Kami for tipping it over. Even the very well known Ninja are supposedly linked to the Kami and more specifically a kind of Kami, the Tengu, which are a kind of clever birdlike people that are attributed to harboring war and ill fortune.

Shintoism and Buddhism made good bedfellows following the migration of the Buddhism into Japan in the 6th century, which comes as no surprise when you see the reverence for nature in both religions. Shintoism resembles Ancestor Worship of classic and modern china in which there are many rites to perform for certain occasions and holidays. And even though as a nationally recognized and official religion it is no more, Shinto and Shinto shrines can be found scattered across the globe, and you can recognize the Torii landmarks as a place of reverence for the practice. It would seem that Shinto still has a very positive and hopeful future as it is a very prevalent and aesthetically mindful of life.

This is actually my second attempt to share my thoughts on this topic. Being brand-new on this site, I thought I could write and save what I had done without “publishing” it. I was wrong-:). So, I will speak to this topic with the disclaimer that this article will be “a work in progress”. In other words, I in no way intend to finish this article in one sitting. This is too big a topic for me to address definitively at one time . Please consider this an installment, a “Part 1″ as it were.

To try to capture the essence of my original thoughts on this subject, I would begin by saying that these “entities”, or supernatural beings are of a subjective reality. By this I mean that they are existant in the experiential and cognitive construct of any individual who says they exist, but are not measureable or quantifiable in their nature. They are of “the other”, a reflection of the dimension of the belief system, spirituality and neuro-biology that each individual has. They are tied deeply not only in this regard to a given individual’s life “outlook”, but also to the socio-cultural and developmental factors that guide the formation of “reality” that is held by any human being. Hence, religious convictions that support or do not allow one to explore the potential truth of their existence must first and foremost be respected as a God-given right. This is regardless of where one’s own beliefs are grounded. This is one of those areas of that comprise the human dimension that is extremely variable in its nature and at the same time very personal, commanding extremes of emotion in many people.

Once one accepts this as a guideline of behavior, a standard of conduct that the serious “explorer” is to “own”, the topic itself can be peeled apart without erroneously judging anyone who may not share your view on the subject. This academic “detachment” is healthy in that one may be able to have an open mind to the “findings” he or she experiences, even thouh a conflicting bias is acknowledged as to its presence. However, it is dealt with in such a way that it is defused to the extent that it does not interfere in the process of discussing the topic in a climate of exploration and the sharing of experience, position and belief. Face it, this is what is required to openly address those things in the human experince that have the potential to cause conflict, embarrassment or some other type of distress.

These are my thoughts, my way of handling my human limitations as it were so as to engage the process of open, free dialogue that is the essence of any endeavour to learn and share. So, I will end here. This “Part 1″ basically lays out how I view the instrinsic needs of serious inquiry in to the deeper meanings of life, to look at “the other”, the supernatural and the like. Part 2 will follow soon with the focus of braeking the topic open given my 53 years of life experince.

Peace.

Have you ever felt the hairs on the back of your neck raise in warning or felt that someone was looking over your shoulder. Have you ever had a sudden unexplainable chill, or heard things go bump in the night. Have you ever felt that you were being watched but there wasn’t anyone there, or that things aren’t where you left them, but there isn’t anyone around that could have moved them. Well, your not alone because we all have had similar experiences, but have ruled them out as just absent mindedness or nerves. or an over active imagination.

Do you believe in ghost, demons, angels, even an alien beings. Some or all of these are considered myths, but as our scientific technology evolves the evidence seems to increasingly support some of these myths as being viable. Don’t get me wrong I’m not talking about the boogie man, but there are many unexplainable phenomenon, that occur all through history. Even miracles that can’t be scientifically explained such as people surviving such devastation that it would seem impossible for them to still be alive. Unexplainable disappearances and yes, even the sightings of aliens and ghosts. Even television has gotten into the act with shows like “Worlds Most Scariest Places”, and “Ghost Hunters”, a personal favorite of mine as of late.

Years ago I definitely would have questioned the existence of ghosts, demons and angels but that was before my daughters and I spent a few days in Jefferson, N.H., camping. It seemed like an ordinary night when my daughters, who had arrived at the camp ground a few days before me, pulled out the digital camera to show me some of the pictures they had taken of their children the first night they arrived.

They were having a cookout and seemed to be enjoying themselves. We had just purchased the camera the month before so the girls were still trying to get used to all the things it could do. As I was looking at the pictures, my daughter thinking there may have been something amiss with the new equipment, pointed out a strange string of light down the left side of one of the photos. It was a strange light with orange and yellow areas so I decided to zoom in on the affected area and what I saw almost floored me.

I couldn’t believe my eyes for there right in the light was the face of a person and behind the larger face was a smaller one. I called the girls over to look at the picture and they were totally stunned. We had lost my mother that spring and my younger sister the year before

Honestly i dont know about angels but i definatley belive in demons and ghosts and all of those other types of things. i mean after 9-11 if you look at some of the pictures thier is several pictures of a demonic face in the smoke and also demons could explain alot of the bad stuff that happens to us in dreams and in real life. i choose to belive in the supernatural because im a wiccan in training but alot of different unexplainable things go on in my house that isnt caused by anything natural. For example the other night we had cleaned up the house and everything and we sat a plate down on the table and it began to move back toward the edge. Neither the table nor the palate was wet or had anything on it, but we do have a ghost in our house even in the summer time you can get cold chills. All the time we hear someone coming down the stairs even when everybody and the animals are all in sight… and have been thier for the longest time. Also we have a table in the kitchen that likes to move overnight and has been doing this everynight for the longest time and the animals would be in a bedroom… it would just move overnight but as i said alot of freaky things that happen to you everyday could have been caused due to some supernatural force
