What Are Tarot Cards Decks?
Tarot cards decks are composed of 78 cards - 22 of which are the Major Arcana (the trump cards and The Fool) and 54 of which are the Minor Arcana (the four suits of 10 pips and four Faces). The Major Arcana represents the major episodes and events that a person can deal with. The Minor Arcana, composed of four suits - encompass the wands (spirit or fire), the cups (emotions or water), the pentacles (physical world or earth) and the swords (mind or air).

While they were used for pure card-playing inside parlors before, Tarot cards decks today are used for an entirely different sort of game. Tarot cards decks symbolize the possible events that may unfold in a person’s life - and thus, are considered to be an effective way of looking into the future.
Where Did Tarot Cards Decks Originate?
The history of Tarot cards decks is unclear. Some people say that they were first found in France, others claim that they were first used in China, while another group contests that it was Egypt where Tarot cards decks where first discovered. Whatever the true source may be though, it is clear to a lot of people that these card decks were primarily used for entertainment in the past - and that there was nothing occult-connected with them.
Tarot cards decks only started being connected to the unknown and the mysterious when a Swiss clergyman Antoine Court de Gebelin published a paper called Le Monde Primitif. In this study, de Gebelin asserted that the word Tarot came from two Egyptian words, Tar (royal) and ro (road). Tarot, according to de Gebelin, points to a royal road to wisdom. The Gypsies, one of the first people to use Tarot cards decks for purposes of divination were descended from Ancient Egyptians - thereby providing the notion that the Gypsies learned to use the Tarot for divination from their ancestors.
How Are Tarot Cards Decks Used In Divination?
Tarot cards are used in divination when a reader draws random cards from a deck, arranges them on a spread, and interprets the way the cards react to each other and their positions in the spread. A lot of experts on the paranormal believe that a reader’s ability to use the cards as a divining tool would increase if he or she has chosen the right deck. Choosing the right one means finding the deck which has been made for you - or according to psychic experts, the deck that calls to you.
In order for Tarot cards decks to be effective at divining events and knowledge, keying in the decks is necessary. To key the decks means to form a bond between the deck and the cosmos, or the universe. This is done by using tools as the Athame, the plates and the sun candles. An unkeyed deck would yield less accurate results, as it’s believed that it has not been able to properly connect with the cosmos.
In addition, psychic experts believe that using Tarot cards decks for divination is a mix of psychic energy and the power of magic.
What Does The Christian World Has To Say About Tarot Cards Decks?
A lot of importance has been stressed against the use of Tarot cards decks by whole Christian organization. Different quotes in the Bible are used to point out the displeasure that God would supposedly feel when His children forget that drawing from sources other than Him for divination and guidance is prohibited. Some of those are as follows:
Deuteronomy 18:10-11 says, "Let no one be found among you who sacrifices a son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead."...

Then Leviticus 20:27 states that, "a man or a woman who is a medium or spiritist must be put to death. You are to stone them; their blood will be on their own head."...
Also, Jeremiah 27, verses 9 to 10 asserts that,"Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon: For they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land; and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish."
For Tarot readers though, using the Tarot cards decks is not an automatic way of gaining access to Hell; as long as they are doing it for no malicious purposes, they don’t have anything to fear.
